Leonard was a roofing contractor in Everett, Washington. He was always looking for better ways to do things; whether it was his contracting business, his hobbies, or his way of completing the tasks of everyday living. When I retired, Leonard asked me to help him apply for a number of patents on things he invented. That led both of us down a long path to discover WHY so many good ideas never make it to the commercial market. Though we were impressed with the efforts of the US Patent Office to make things easier, fairer and more equitable for inventers, the patent process that started evolving shortly after the country formed has been dominated by lawyers and lawmakers that have, over the years, turned the patent process into a livelyhood for themselves and a protection against innovators messing things up for their clients. I'll have much more to say on this subject as time permits. Right now, I've got to work on growing my skills after an 18 year gap in my web administration responsibilities. This is going to take a while.
Don't complain too loudly about the appearance of the site. I still haven't had a formal course in web design, but I have had a few courses in design fundamentals. I'll put those into practice after I get the site functional.
